If Jesus walked the world today

November 5, 2026 · 4 minute read

He is not gone. The question is whether we will look at this year the way He looked at the crowds.

People ask what Jesus would see if He were here today, as if the Lord were missing. He is not missing. He rose. He sees this world more clearly than we do. The useful question is narrower. If He walked our streets the way He walked Galilee, what would we finally notice, because He stopped for it?

He would see the crowd and be moved, not impressed. Matthew says that when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion, because they fainted and were scattered, as sheep having no shepherd. That sentence still fits. We are surrounded, and we are alone. A person can carry a thousand voices in a pocket and still have nobody who knows their name. He would not sneer at the phone. He would see the hunger underneath it.

He would see who the city walks past. The poor. The sick. The child. The stranger. The person everyone has already decided about. He did not wait for a clean reputation before He spoke. He would see war, and grief, and the dead we scroll past before the next clip. He wept over Jerusalem. He would not be casual about a world that has learned to be casual about suffering.

He would see religion that stays busy and a heart that stays far. He would see His name used to win an argument, and the person across the table left unseen. He would see churches that know how to be seen and have grown thin in prayer. He would also see what nobody films. A meal carried to a neighbor. A parent opening the Bible with a child. A believer who tells the truth at work and refuses cruelty. A gift given without a speech. He has always known the difference between a performance and a seed.

And He would see that the world is not only wicked. It is tired. People are looking for a God who is real, a word that does not move every week, and a people who will stay. The commission has not expired. The harvest is still plentiful, and the laborers are still few. What He would say is what He already said. Repent. Believe. Come. Love one another. Go and make disciples.

If you have been asking what Jesus would do with this year, start with what He already told you to do with today. Look at one person the way He looked at the crowd. Open the Scripture before you open the argument. If you want a house to practice that with, write to us. We will pray with you, and we will open the Bible next to the world as it is.
